DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT

From 1996 up to nowadays, the Province of Grosseto instituted fourteen Provincial Natural Reserves, in order to safeguard a vast portion of territory, which is particularly significant from an environmental, wildlife and forestry point of view.  This project concerned a qualification action aimed at making useful the natural reserves of the province of Grosseto, located in the allowed geographical area, making, together with the signals, the informative material and of a visit centre. This project financed the installation of a visit centre inside Casa Ximenes, a historical building which is located in the territory of Diaccia Botrona, a marshy area near the sea, close to Castiglione della Pescaia, which is therefore particularly visited during the spring- summer period.   The centre will serve as reference point also for all the other natural reserves located in the Province of Grosseto, coordinating among the similar structures which are already affirmed, such as the ones of Parco della Maremma.  The visit centre has been furnished, with computer tools for consultation, illustrative panels, projectors, monitors and video recorders, equipment for disabled people. Besides, a small permanent exhibition has been installed inside the library, while in the strategic areas of Padule some bird watching points have been realized.
